I made 2 sets of Patriotic cards and like how they both came out. The layered one is very easy to make and every card I have made this way has come out super. I call it a 3 tier card but there are other names for it.  I found the tutorial for them on splitcoaststampers and they call it Triple Stamping. I used the Ne Tim Holtz Americana Blueprint stamps for these 2 cards.

The other card I call  a "splat" card. That is exactly what you do with your paint dabber.
I took my paper and paints outside so as not to make a mess everywhere. Squeeze paint out of the top of your paint dabber until you get a good amount. Then just splat it on your paper. The harder you splat, the bigger the design. I just played around a bit until I got some I liked.

Here are my 4th of July nails!!!!!!
I also made a Chunky Charm and tag  for this same swap.

I hope you liked my projects and will return again to see what else I have been doing

4th Of July is only a week away so today I am going to post some Patriotic items I made recently.
These are items that I made for a Red, Shite & Blue swap on the Cricut MB. I have a very hard time putting together  layouts without the actual pictures, but this one came out okay. I also made my partner a beachy layout.

Good Morning everyone!!!

I am going to try and post a little something every day. Will have to see how that works out. LOL
Anyway, yesterday was our anniversary so tonight we are going out to celebrate 43 years of wedded bliss(well not always). We are going out to dinner and then to a small local theater production of CATS. We went last year and saw Sound of Music. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to try another one this year.

I'll be back later today to post some recently made cards

Here are a couple items that I have made for various swaps. Hope you enjoy them!

For one of Kelley's Short & Sweet swaps, we had to alter a mousetrap and my partner(COB) liked Graphic 45 paper so I went with some that I had called Playtimes Past.  I then collected various game and toy pieces and adhered them to the mousetrap. I used Lincoln Logs, checkers, dominos, tinker toys, scrabble tile, dice and Monopoly and Parcheesi game pieces along with Racko cards.
It should make for a neat conversation piece.

Here is the bottle I altered for Kelley in another of her swaps!!! She comes up with some really cool ideas. She is very much into grunge and I have only recently tried a couple projects. I wanted to make her bottle Shabby Chic in black & reds with lace and flowers. Well that didn't work. The more I added ink to my tissue tape covering, the more PINK it looked. You DO NOT send Kelley anything PINK!!!!
So what to do. I had seen an ATC with thick embossing powder on it and thought it would look good on the bottle. I used Graphic 45 Communique papers because I had a "Message" to add. So I found my chunky powder, added some black and red to it and just started covering spots on the bottle. I repeated the process until I got it so it looked pretty good. Personally, it didn't look good to me but it was grunge so I hoped Kelley would like it. I added some chain to hold the "message" and also added a couple charms. One was a telephone and the other was a movie camera. Both fit the theme and were the right colors so I was happy.
The message was a personal autograph  for Kelley that I got from Tim Holtz when I went to his work shop. Needless to say, I think she was pleased with the bottle and message.

Here is my other Grunge project. !!!
My partner in another swap mentioned that her son just got a '78 Camaro and he was fixing it up. So I came up with the idea of making something for her to add his picture.
I started with a canvas. I took HVAC tape(found at Home Depot) cut it into large pieces and ran it thru the Cuttlebug using a few different embossing folders. Rivets, Diamonds and Chevron I think they were.  I torn the tape  into pieces and placed them all over the canvas. I then took Black Soot paint and covered the whole thing. I wiped off some and then did the same thing a 2nd time. I did a third coat but added some Vintage Photo paint this time. I then took a piece of chipboard for a picture mat . I grunged it up with paint and added some corners. The picture will go inside the corners leaving about 1/2 inch all the way around the mat. I bought some inexpensive tools and grunged them up and hot glued them on the canvas.  Again, I wasn't sure about it but the recipient seemed to like it!!!!
It was still missing something according to my "helper" so I added a faceplate with tiny letters spelling "Camaro" on the bottom left. Guess I didn't take a final picture!!!!

Some of you may know that I also do basket weaving and may have even gotten a basket from me. A good friend taught me how to make these and because I have so much reed and materials, I have tried to make a few for partner swaps on the Cricut Message Board. My friend Jane passed away a year ago March and every time I make a basket, I know she is watching me, making sure I do it correctly. Miss you Jane!!!
This first one was for a Fall Swap.
This one was for another swap with a bird directive!!!!!

This last one was for a Mother Nature directive using embossing. So I made some embossed butterflies and glued them to the sunflowers!! I really wanted to keep this basket.

Glad to see that a few people have stopped in to check out what I have been up to. Sorry that I haven't posted much recently. I plan on fixing that right now by adding a few things for you to look at!!!
Since I was here last(Sept 2012) I have been to Las Vegas, Dominican Republic and of course Aruba!!!
So let's start with a few pictures from these places just to make sure I still know how to post pics!!!
We took a raft ride down the Colorado River from Hoover Dam

We did a Segway tour with friends in the Dominican and the sunsets were beautiful!!

Aruba!!!! What more can I say about this wonderful place we love!!! Eagle Beach is never crowded and the north side of the island is spectacular!!!

June 2013

Where is the world has the last 9 months gone??? I had planned on keeping this blog up to date with all my new projects, my trips and everyday occurrences. It certainly didn't happen that way.

So I guess I need to go back and post a few things from 2012 and then continue with 2013
