Silas O'Rielly

Wow, I didn't realize how long it has been since I updated!!!! I get so involved with my crafts that I don't seem to take the time to post them. Plus, I spend way too much time on the computer as it is!!!

If you follow my blog at all, you know that I do a lot of swaps on the Cricut message board. I was asked to post a picture of "Silas" so  friend could pin it. Not exactly sure how that all works but I will post the picture and let her take it from there.

So this swap was all about excuses we come up with for not getting swaps done on time or for not making everything we wanted, or rushing to finish a project on time,  medical issues, kids, etc. It was a secret sister swap where we had to interpret the directives and make items specifically for that person.

My SS said she would love it if someone would make her a steampunk snowman!!!!  So for the "I am tired of making the same old thing" directive, I same up with Silas!!!! I am by no means any pro with steampunk. I had to do my homework and spent  quite a few days looking at all things steampunk.

Silas is made from 3 bells, some gears, some electrical elements from my hubby, a chain, a shovel, a bottlecap filled with watch parts, and a steampunk hat which I laced and added feathers. I wanted to incorporate wings but that never happened.
I am certain that someone who is more familiar with steampunk could have made a better snowman, but I am happy with him and so is my SS. That is all that matters. LOL

I searched the internet for Steampuk names and Silas O'Rielly was the name that matched my SS's initials.
I also made some cards, a dangle charm and a tissue box cover. I forgot to take pictures of most of it  but do have a few cards I can post.
I PROMISE to post more often!!!!

Layouts

I have been doing the LID Challenge on the Cricut MB. I post a couple sketches  every week or 2 and anyone can join in and do a layout by following the skteches. There is no commitment to do these and they certainly help get me motivated!
Here a a couple more that I did recently. Both of these are pictures of the display at the Nature Conservatory at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas during Dec 2010. Unfortunately, the display was just getting started when we visited in 2011.
I used the MS Drippy Goo punch for the ice and I inked some white flowers to go with the color of the layout with the polar bears. The bears in the display were actually made of flowers!!!!!!!!!!!

More dangle charms

My daughter saw these dangles and suggested that I make her a "beachy" one so I did!!!! I included some Aruba sand and a shell. The picture in the bottlecap is of a local beach that she frequents when she is home. I think anyone that grew up near the ocean has to have their fix every now and then.

I also made a "camping" one. This one I will donate to the KOA campground for their silent auction. They have a weekend in May where all the proceeds from the activities go to help kids with cancer go to camp. A very worthy cause and I hope this is different enough so thatsomeone will buy it. I used all split rings on these because I have no idea how they will be used and I don't want them falling apart.

Dangle Charms

I think I have found a new love!!!! I joined Robin's Dangle Charm swap on the Cricut MB and I am hooked on them!!!!! We have done spring and now are working on summer. I can't post them yet because the swap is still in progress.
I can however show you some others.
The first picture is of one that I made for a friend for her birthday and she loved it. I used scrabble tiles for her initials and added charms that were just for her.

Along with Robin's swap, GrammaP came up with a partner Dangle Charm Swap. My 2 partners were Beanie(Debbie) and GailLew(Gail). Both have received theirs so I can go ahead and post pictures.
Debbie's favorite color is green and she liked the Steampunk style. Well, I had NO idea what that was so I had to research it. I think I did okay.

Gail liked vintage so I used browns, creams and pastels. I added some "travel" charms because she likes to travel.

If you have any questions on how I assembled anything, feel free to ask. Thanks for taking the time to check these out.

Another 6 months

I get so involved with work, life, trips and crafting that I actually forget all about my Blog!!!!
Since I was here last, my husband and I have been to Las Vegas, Jamaica and Aruba. I'll start with a few pictures of layouts that I did of these trips.
